Capture membership numbers with Shopify POS
One of the most common use cases that was presented when building the first version of the app, was the ability to capture and work with membership numbers.
There were so many industries and stores that no great solution to capturing membership numbers. The most common way do so, was to enter the customer's membership number in the order notes.
This has a few limitations:
- Order notes are stored as a simple string on the order, which us harder to integrate with other systems or report on
- Order notes are subject to human error
- Capturing the membership number in a consistent way is hard and relies on manual process
Using the ShopFields app, you can more reliably capture customer membership numbers and store them on the order in a way that is:
- Consistent
- Easy for staff to follow
- Easy to integrate with systems, report on, and use in automations like Shopify Flow.
Once you have created your field in the Shopify admin, staff can quickly attach a membership number to the order in POS. This will be attached to the Shopify order as an order attribute which you can then use to tag the order, tag the customer, or pass on to another system using HTTP requests.
